Setup

Our technology stack

Our Setup

Our main goal for the selection of the technology stack was to create an easy expandable, well performing and cheap setup. We came up with a stack that allows us to install a large number of game-servers and switch the active ones quickly without sacrificing performance.

Pterodactyl

Pterodactyl is a free web panel for managing voice and game-server with a matching backend that uses Docker to virtualize the single instances.

This allows an easy installation and management of servers and the integration of servers on multiple hosts into one panel.

S3QL & Google Cloud

S3QL is a file system that allows mount storage services like the Google Cloud or Amazon S3 into the local file system.

Extensive local caching and deduplication of used data allows for practically unlimited storage space for our servers without sacrificing the performance of a local SSD.

Xen Paravirtualization

The Xen Hypervisor allows hosting of several virtual machines on one physical host. Xen uses paravirtualization to achieve outstanding I/O performance.

The Xen Project is part of the Linux Foundation Collaborative Projects. Full Xen support was introduced to Linux systems with Linux kernel 3.0.
